BOYD: Surrounded by his family, Archibald "Archie" of Brandon passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. Archie was born on October 27, 1919 in Daly Municipality to Andrew and Agnes Boyd. He received his schooling at Gourlay and Moore Park. Archie served his country in World War II, seeing duty in France, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Holland. Upon returning from service, he married Eileen Davidson on August 17, 1946 and they farmed in Glanton community until 1988, when they retired to Brandon. Archie also worked for Elton Municipality for 25 years. He was a hard worker all his life, with his interests mainly around his family and community. He enjoyed curling, camping, dancing, and a good joke. Archie was a good handyman and mechanic and was willing to help anyone. He was quite proud to be a member of Royal Canadian Legion. After Eileen passed away, Archie renewed acquaintances with a wonderful woman that allowed him to continue enjoying his later years. Archie was predeceased by his wife Eileen on January 13, 1992, infant great grandchild, Amity Garrioche, his parents Andrew and Agnes, brothers Andrew and Murray and a sister, Annie Phillips. He will be lovingly remembered by special friend, Muriel Doak and her family: by his daughters; Evelyn (Gerry) Paddock and Darlene (James) McLeod; grandchildren Michelle, Carla, Marc, Jaclyn Paddock, Dawn (Fred) Garrioche, Darren, Diane Grace and great grandchildren Taila and Layton Garrioche. Archie is also survived by brothers Alex and Jack and sisters, Nell Dawe, Isobel Boyd, and Marjorie Young. The are several sisters and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on May 21, 2005 with Mona Franklin officiating. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were nephews: Louis Phillips, Jim Boyd, Darryl Boyd, Craig Young, Cal Goetz and Garry Stapleton.
