SOWIAK: On Saturday, March 24, 2007, Anne Sowiak passed away peacefully at Fairview Home. She was born to Pauline and Timothy Trochanowski on February 21, 1915 at St. Martin, Manitoba. In 1932 she married Sam Sowiak and moved to Armstrong, Ontario where Sam worked on the C.N. Railroad. They moved to Rama, Saskatchewan and started their farming career until 1945 at which time they moved to the Nesbitt District and continued farming. In 1964, they retired from the farm and moved to Brandon where they spent the rest of their lives. Anne was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed her family and friends and always had a goodie of some sort to offer her company. Anne always made sure she had a cookie or candy to offer her company when she was in Fairview Home. She was a member of the Trinity United Church as well as the Trinity and Nesbitt United Church Women's organizations. Anne knew her Bible and enjoyed the fellowship at her Bible study groups. She had a love for quilting, knitting, always supplying slippers for her family at Christmas and giving her afghans away. She looked forward to the knitting sessions when they were held Thursday afternoon at Fairview and the company of other residents. Anne had a great knowledge of history and whenever anyone travelled she always was very interested in where they went and what was seen. She loved her flowers, plants and her yard and took great pride in making sure everything looked the best and always shared her produce. Anne always had to have her coffee and doughnut after her shopping or doctors appointments and took great pleasure in treating others. The day trips provided by Fairview were very much a pleasure for Anne and she took in all the details and enjoyed sharing her outing with her family. She loved the visits from her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends and enjoyed keeping up to date on what was happening in everyone's life. Anne is survived by her sons: Rudy (Ruth) of Nesbitt, Bill (partner Doreen Lampard) of Brandon, Ernie (Thora) of Kemnay; daughter Marj (Cliff) Pawluck of Brandon; grandchildren: Todd Sowiak (partner Michelle), Caroline (Tom) Roy, Keith (Myrna) Sowiak, Ken Sowiak, Charlene Pawluck (Vazz Linek), Jason Pawluck, John Sowiak (Bonnie), Wes Sowiak (Roxanne), and Amanda Sowiak (Andrea); great grandchildren Jared and Devon Sowiak and Kendall and Matthew Roy. She is also survived by sister Olga (John) Kostelnyk of Ashern and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her husband Sam; parents Pauline and Timothy Trochanowski; sister Mary Skwarchuk; infant daughter Olga and daughter-in-law Noreen Sowiak. A private family Ceremony to Celebrate Anne's Life was held at Trinity United Church on Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Rev. John Nesbitt officiated. Pallbearers were Todd Sowiak, Keith Sowiak, Ken Sowiak, Jared Sowiak, Wes Sowiak and Tom Roy. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Anne may be made to a charity of one's choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
