Obituary

CHERNISKI: It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anne Cherniski at the Assiniboine Centre on April 13, 2000 at the age of 81. Anne leaves to mourn her son Michael (Val) Cherniski; daughter, Patricia (George) Dinsdale; three grandsons: George Jr. (Mary) Dinsdale, Corey (Barb) Dinsdale and Bill Dinsdale. Also four great-grandchildren: Maria, Danielle, Jamie and Shauna. Anne is also survived by seven sisters: Flossie Markie, Florence Starzynski (Fred), Pauline Woodworth (Everett), Marlene Rowe (Albert), Roxie Asprey (Ronald), Blanche Asprey (John), and Cathy Smiley; four brothers: Douglas Howe (Elenor), James Howe (Florella), Albert Howe (Frances), Don Howe (Glenda); numerous nieces and nephews. In Brandon there are two sisters-in-law, Frances Litster and Kay Cherniski that also survive. Anne was predeceased by her husband Michael of 43 years on March 8, 1984. Also her mother and father Mary and Albert Howe; two sisters Dorothy Boutilier and Laverne Howe. Anne was born February 24, 1919 in Elmsdale, Nova Scotia. Later she moved with her parents to Sheet Harbour, N.S. where she received her schooling. In 1940 Anne moved to Turo, N.S. to take a business course. There she met Michael and in 1941 they were married. In 1945 they came to Brandon where she resided for the rest of her life. Anne had worked in retail most of her life and loved to be with people. Over the years she has belonged to organizations including St. Augustine's Church since 1945, Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services, and the Royal Canadian Legion. In 1990 she moved to the Lions Manor. Everyone there was her friend, she cared for them all. Always willing to help out when ever she could do so. They were very special to her. She participated in Manor Melodiers, Victoria Seniors Association and of course the Wednesday night Cribbage Game, which she would never miss. Anne also loved to travel. She had just returned from Victoria, B.C. when she took sick. She loved to be involved and active all her life. She lived life to the fullest. Anne enjoyed many card games with her family, mostly the grandsons. She was very proud of her family. They were her pride and joy. She never missed a chance to be with them and will be deeply missed by all. Prayers will be said at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Sunday, April 16, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327 - 4th Street, on Monday, April 17, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Rainerio Sarce as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
