Anna Jaszcza passed away peacefully at the Assiniboine Centre in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 10, 2001. Anna was born in Trieste, Yugoslavia. As a young woman she lived in Rome and Naples before coming to Canada in 1949 to work as a nanny. In October of the same year she married Jan Jaszcza. Anna spent many happy years throughout her lifetime showering her family and home with love and generous devotion. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Jan, of 51 years; son, Raymond his wife Barb and grandson, Brandon of Victoria, B.C.; daughter, Diane and granddaughters Rebecca and Bridgette of Calgary, Alberta. Anna is also survived by her sisters, Maria and Danista; and stepbrother Carlo. Prayers were said on Sunday, May 13, 2001 at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 14, 2001 at St. Hedwig's Roman Catholic Church, 223 - 11th Street, at 10:00 am. Celebrant was Fr. Anthony Korewa. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Anna may be made to a charity of choice. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the care given by Dr. Sharma of St. Boniface Hospital, Dr. du Plooy of Brandon Regional Health Centre and all of the nurses and staff of the 2nd floor Assiniboine Centre.
