CHALMERS: Annabelle Chalmers of Brandon passed away at her residence, Hillcrest Place Nursing Home, on Monday, July 11, 2005. Annabelle was born in Brandon on May 11, 1911, the daughter of William and Ann Inkster of Nesbitt, Manitoba. She received her education at the Minnewawa, Nesbitt and Delton Schools. She also attended Brandon Collegiate. On January 11, 1934, she married Joseph Howard Chalmers of Carroll. She was an extremely devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Together, they farmed the family farm until Joseph's death in 1972. In 1973, Annabelle moved to Brandon, where she spent the remainder of her life. She was a member of Knox United Church. She was also a member of the W.M.S. and the Carroll U.C.W. During her years in Brandon, she worked as a dietary cook at Fairview Home for eleven years, retiring at the age of 73. Annabelle was predeceased by; her parents, William and Ann Inkster, her husband, Joseph; brothers, Sinclair and David Inkster; sisters, Mary Inkster and Florence Watts. She will be lovingly remembered by; her only son, Douglas and his wife, Gwen; grandchildren, Lisa (Jared) Puhach, David Chalmers (Holly Williams) and Scott (Tanis) Chalmers. She also leaves two sisters, Margaret Steven and Ida Shield. There are numerous nieces and nephews. A private interment will be held at the Carroll Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: David Chalmers, Scott Chalmers, David Inkster, Neil Inkster, Jack Watts and Greg Shield. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street, on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Harvey Hurren of Knox United Church will officiate.
