HACHKOWSKI: Ann Jean Hachkowski passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, on Monday, October 30, 2006. Prayers will be said at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, Brandon on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Dominic Yuen as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. HACHKOWSKI, Ann Jean (nee Hersack Zimmerman): It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Ann on Monday, October 30, 2006. Ann was born December 13, 1924 in Brandon, Manitoba. She was the daughter of Dora and Michael Hersack. Unfortunately Michael passed away when Ann was only three years old. Her mother Dora remarried to Peter Zimmerman who raised Ann like his own daughter. Ann received her education at Ruska Rawa School at Marco, Manitoba. Ann and Joe met and then they married on October 10, 1943. They settled down to farm life, a year later they were off to St. Catharines, Ontario. Within a year they returned to Marco to continue farming and eventually buying the Marco General Store. In August 1955, Ann, Joe and family moved to Toronto, Ontario. For a number of years Ann was employed by Flags by Canadiana, retiring in 1980. In May 1981, Ann and Joe decided to retire to Brandon. Ann was known for her generous hospitality, always welcoming friends and family to her home. She enjoyed music, dancing and sharing a joke. She will be remembered by her family for her Christmas Eve dinners and as the "Best Perogie Maker" ever. She enjoyed watching her favorite baseball team the Toronto Blue Jays, playing bingo and traveling. Ann had the opportunity to travel to the Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, and France, as well as California, Florida, and Alaska. Ann was predeceased by her husband Joe, her father Michael, step-dad Peter Zimmerman, mother Dora; sisters Marilyn and Jessie; brothers Tony, Stan and Edwin. Ann is survived by her children Dolores Hardy of Brandon, Brian (Cindy) Hachkowski of Burlington, Ontario; grandchildren: Dean (Michelle) Hardy of Calgary, Alberta, Stephan (Chris) of Lausanne, Sw., Bruce Hardy of Winnipeg, Jacob Hachkowski and Jessica Hachkowski of Burlington, Ontario; great grandchildren: Madison, Joshua and Noah Hardy of Calgary, Alberta. She is also survived by her brothers: Mike (Gladys) Hersack of Rossburn, Edward (Diane) Zimmerman of Rossburn, and sister Louise Lepischak of Portage La Prairie; sisters-in-law: Ollie Zimmerman of Lethbridge, Alberta, Lorna Zimmerman of Brandon, Jean Zimmerman of Portage La Prairie, Alice Hachkowski of Brandon, and Aunt Pearl Pawluk of Rossburn and also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Prayers were said on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Memories Chapel. Funeral Mass was held on Monday, November 6, 2006 at St. Augustine's Church. Fr. Dominic Yuen officiated. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were nephews: Dwayne Hersack, Dale Hersack, Terry Zimmerman, Edward Hachkowski, Jack Mushumanski, and Murray Yankoski. Crossbearers were niece Debra Barnesky and granddaughter Jessica Hachkowski. Eulogists were grandsons Dean Hardy, Stephan Hardy, and Bruce Hardy. All those in attendance were considered Honorary Pallbearers. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Brandon Regional Health Centre or to a charity of choice.
