DALGLEISH, Allan James: On Sunday, November 7th, 2004 Allan passed away peacefully at his residence in Sprucewoods. He was born on September 15, 1925 to Wilfred and Annie Dalgleish in MacGregor, MB. Allan was the only boy and grew up with his five sisters in the Shilo area. He obtained his education at the Lawrence School and at an early age started his first job as a paperboy at Camp Shilo, when it was just a tent camp. Eventually, he went to work on the railway with his father. When Allan turned 18, he entered the army, however the war ended before he was sent overseas. In 1943, Allan met Mavis while she was working at Shilo, and they were married on April 6,1944. They had celebrated their 60th Anniversary in the spring of this year. After Allan was discharged from the army he went back to work for CN Railroad. Like his father, he soon became a section foreman, they lived at Wytonville, Onah, Carberry & Lavine. Finally they settled in the Sprucewoods, Shilo Area where they have been for nearly 50 years. Together, Allan and Mavis raised two boys, Allan James (Jim) and Ron. Allan retired, in 1980,after 38 years with CNR, but being a man that was used to work, retirement didn't last long. He did some weed spraying for the municipality, and could always be found doing cement work or carpentry for friends and neighbours. Allan soon started helping out the Richardson's at the farm, seldom missing a day in over 20 years. He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred and Annie; and sisters Flora, Dina and Noreen. Allan is survived by his wife Mavis, of Sprucewoods; sons, Jim (Marge) of Baldur and Ron (Heather) of Sprucewoods; grandsons, John (Sandra) of Alexander and Dale (Karen) of Baldur; great grandchildren, Hayley & Dexter of Alexander. Allan is also survived by: his sisters, Jean Peters of Brandon and Marie Dalgleish of Calgary; many nieces and nephews and his extended family, the Richardson's of Douglas. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, November 10th, 2004 at Memories Chapel. Rev. Barb Jardine officiated. Urn Bearers were: grandsons John and Dale. Internment will follow at a later date.
