YULE: The death of Alexander Yule of Brandon, beloved husband of Patricia, occurred Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the Assiniboine Centre following a lengthy illness. Alex was born in Newdale, Manitoba, on June 8, 1917 son of William and Eleen Yule. He farmed with his father and Melvin Graham in the Newdale area. As a young man he served overseas during World War II for five years. Alex received the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and War Medal, 1939-1945. Alex was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #3 for 57 years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Jean (Gus) Barrs; son-in-law, Larry Blais; stepdaughter, Donna (Ed) Stephens; stepson, Jim North; and stepdaughter-in-law, Tena Powell. Alex also leaves nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Rose Koback and Annie Ellis; There are numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Margaret Rose Gerus; granddaughter, Kathy Barrs; and niece, Joyce Kolterm. The service to celebrate Alexander's life was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, February 6, 2003. The Rev. Don Hudson of Knox United Church officiated. Urn Bearer was Chad Stephens. Interment followed in the Veterans section of the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
