BOYD: Alex Boyd, beloved husband of Ella and dear father of Jim (Joanne) Boyd and Sharon (Calvin) Goetz, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, December 15, 2007. The Funeral Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th street North on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Barb Jardine and Mona Franklin will officiate. Interment will be in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. BOYD: Alexander Boyd, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon on Saturday, December 15, 2007. Alex was born in Brandon on January 31, 1922, son of Andrew and Agnes Boyd. He attended school at Gourlay and Moore Park. Alex then joined his dad on the farm in the Glanton- Forrest area. He farmed all his life, which not only was his livelihood but his life. He took much pleasure in his cattle and the land. Even after moving to Brandon two years ago, he continued to drive out to the farm daily to help out wherever he could. In his younger days, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, attending dances, visiting and the Saturday evening trips to Minnedosa. Family was important to him and he followed his grandchildren's activities, attending many of their hockey and baseball games. Alex leaves to mourn; his wife of sixty-two years, Ella, his daughter Sharon and husband Cal Goetz , his son Jim and wife Joanne. There are four grandchildren, Trevor (Michelle) Goetz, Shannon (Jon) Hood, Janelle and Ryan Boyd and three great grandchildren, Courtney, Breanna and Justin Goetz. He also leaves a brother, Jack and wife Margaret and sisters, Helen Dawe, Marjorie (Don) Young and sisters-in-law, Edna Boyd and Marie Cleaver. Alex was predeceased by; his parents, Andrew and Agnes, brothers, Andrew, Murray, Archie and sisters, Annie Phillips, Isobel Boyd and brother and sisters-in-law; Horace Phillips, Fred Dawe, Eileen Boyd and Margaret Boyd. Pallbearers were: two grandsons, Trevor Goetz and Ryan Boyd also Donald Grobb, Brian Cleaver, Darryl Boyd and Gregg Phillips. A private interment was held at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
