NICHOLLS: Albert James "Nick" Nicholls of Brandon, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2004 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Nick was born on January 19, 1930 in Peterborough, ON, the son of Charles and Jessie Nicholls. He received his education in Peterborough and in December 1947, he joined the army at the age of 17 years. Nick was posted to CFB Shilo and it was there that he met and later married Theresa Frances Zatlyny. He served in Germany during peace times and was awarded the NATO Medal and the Canadian Forces decoration. During his career with the Canadian Armed Forces, Nick was promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer. He choose early retirement so that he was able to pursue his hobbies. Nick loved to fish, was a highly skilled woodworker, enjoyed playing baseball, curling, golfing and billiards. He also played the accordion. Nick was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He will be lovingly remembered by: his wife of 54 years, Theresa; son, Douglas (Catherine) Nicholls; daughter, Debi (Ralph) Trott; grandchildren, James (Tracy) Nicholls, Karla Nicholls, Jeff Trott and David Trott; and great grandson, Kaysen Nicholls. He is also survived by: his siblings, Shirley Stemp, Betty Peterkin, Ronald Nicholls and Reginald Nicholls. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jessie Nicholls. A private family ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Memories Chapel. At the time of Theresa's passing there will also be a ceremony celebrating Nick's life with interment at that time.
