Obituary

The death of Albert Edward Judd, beloved husband of Marie, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, July 22, 2002. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 10:00 am. The Reverend Tom McQuiston of St. Matthew's Cathedral will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery Columbarium. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Albert to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7. Complete obituary information will follow. The death of Albert Edward Judd, beloved husband of Marie, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, July 22, 2002. Albert was born at Winnipegosis, Manitoba on March 22, 1925, the second of seven children born to John and Edith Judd. Albert grew up in the Montgomery and Scarth districts, attending school in Virden and district. He developed a love of music at an early age, when he attended country dances and learned to play the violin and harmonica. During World War II, he worked at the Virden Airport and helped on the family farm. Albert married Marie Ashton in 1962, a widow with four children. He later became custodian at the Virden Collegiate until starting his ownwater and gravel hauling business. In 1970, they moved to Brandon, where he owned and operated the Sunset Motel with his wife and operated Sunset Trucking with his sons. When they retired, Albert and Marie bought a motor home and travelled to the United States, visiting family and friends. Albert loved restoring old cars, auction sales and air shows. He took great pride in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are: his loving wife of 40 years, Marie (nee Colpitts) and children, Ronald Allan Ashton, Barbara Elaine (Dave) Cunningham, Colin Ivan (Heather) Ashton and Beverley Ann (Mark) Bok. There are twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Dave Judd and four sisters; Ruth Downing, Florrie Fosty, Margaret Walker, Dorothy Volk, a sister-in-law, Mary Hedison and their families in the Virden and McAuley districts. Albert was predeceased by, his parents and an older brother, William Thomas Judd. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 10:00 am. The Reverend Tom McQuiston of St. Matthew's Cathedral officiated. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery Columbarium. Flowers are gratefully declined.
