HYDE: Albert Henry Hyde passed away peacefully at his residence, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Albert was born in the R.M. of North Norfolk on February 15,1929. His first job was driving a truck for Bob Maben from Sydney hauling grain and livestock. In 1950, Albert moved to Brandon and started driving truck and operating heavy equipment for Cumming and Dobbie. He met Irene Carradice and was married in 1952. They were happily married for 54 years. In 1953, he bought his first gravel truck. Albert helped build the Trans Canada highway and in the wintertime he would haul wood and snow. Later he became involved in long haul trucking throughout North America and hauled supplies to Northern Communities across frozen lakes and the muskeg. In 1985, they moved to Kenora where he hauled pulpwood before returning to Brandon in 1999. As recent as 2005, he drove a semi as far as Lynn Lake with firefighting supplies. Up until he was bedridden, Albert drove CP crews locally for Hallcon. Albert enjoyed dancing and loved playing cards with friends and family. He had no end of patience for teaching card games to grandkids. He was also an avid gardener in later years. Albert loved watching and coaching his kids and grandkids in hockey and ball. He was always available to transport players to and from games and practices. He successfully coached both hockey and softball teams to league championships, with the highlight being a Manitoba Summer Games Gold Medal in Ladies Softball. He will always be remembered for the smile on his face, never seeming capable of complaining and the joy he got from doing things for other people. Left to mourn are his loving wife Irene Hyde; sons Gord (Gail) Hyde, Dave (Sheri) Hyde; daughter Brenda (Terry) Komer; grandchildren David and Shaun Hyde, Nicole and Dusty Hyde, Zeb and Jeanette Hudon; sisters Lily Early, Charlotte Dickson; brother George (Dorothy) Hyde. There are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ethel and Henry Hyde; brother Tom; sisters Phyllis McCreadie and Grace Birch; brothers-in-law Alex McCreadie, Jack Birch, Ken Dickson and George Early and sister-in-law Annie Hyde. The Ceremony to Celebrate Albert's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, October 23, 2006. Rev. Shannon McCarthy officiated. Urn bearers were Zeb Hudon and Dusty Hyde. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Albert may be made to Canadian Cancer Society-Manitoba Division 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 9Z9 or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada, Box 21047, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B 3W8.
