Obituary

BROWETT: Albert "Garnet" Browett passed away quietly at home on July 20, 1999 after a battle with cancer. Garnet was born in Vegreville, AB on November 26, 1930 and moved to Victoria, BC in 1937. He moved to Shilo, MB when he joined the army in 1947. Garnet trained as a paratrooper and it was during his three years in the army that he met his wife, Bernice Wielgosh. They were married in 1954 and raised four children. During that time, Garnet worked for Canada Packers; as a self-employed painter; at Brandon Housing Authority; Brandon Paint and Glass; and in business with an Exchange-a-Blade franchise. He took up golf later in life and enjoyed the challenge it presented and the fellowship it brought. Garnet was a very capable painter and carpenter and he did many jobs for family and friends. He was a very sociable person who always took time to visit. Garnet was a very proud and loving father who was willing to lend a hand. Garnet is survived by his wife, Bernice; his sons, Gary (Patricia) of Nanaimo, BC and Terry (Nancy) of Brandon; daughters, Denise (Perry) Stonehouse of Brandon and Diane (Darrell) Ryckman of Aldergrove, BC. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren which he dearly enjoyed; and 2 brothers, Ted (Pat) of Victoria, BC and Ron (Shirley) of Kamloops, BC. Garnet was predeceased by his parents, Lily and Warden Browett. Prayers will be said at Memories Chapel on Sunday, July 25th at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Monday, July 26th at 10:30 a.m. Celebrant Fr. Barry Schoonbaert. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Brandon Palliative Care Service, c/o Brandon Regional Health Centre, 150 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel, 727-0330.
We hold you close within our hearts,
And there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives,
Until we meet again.
