Agnes (nee Heide) Buhler passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024 at the Brandon General Hospital.
Agnes was born to Jacob and Katharina Heide on March 28, 1938 in Deloraine, Manitoba. She grew up in the Whitewater district and attended Strathallen and Boissevain schools. She was baptized at the age of sixteen in the Whitewater Mennonite Church. She believed in Jesus and the hope of Heaven.
She enjoyed singing in the choir and the youth gatherings where she met the love of her life, Henry Buhler. She was only sweet sixteen. They married three years later on July 6, 1957.
They farmed at Lena, for the first years, then bought a farm in Boissevain in 1962. They worked hard and God blessed them richly. Mom loved gardening, particularly flowers, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and any new handwork she could find. Her hands were always busy. She was a good cook and baker, food was always plentiful. She took care of her husband and four children well.
They retired to Boissevain in 1992 and enjoyed their years there before moving to Brandon in 2011.
She is survived by her husband Henry; four children, Larry (Sieglinde), Kathy (Harvey), Glen (Aggie), and Gerald (Michelle); twenty grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and one with her in heaven.
A Celebration of Agnes' Life will be held on Friday August 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Richmond Park Mennonite Brethren Church, 1525 26th Street, Brandon, MB.
